I went to Sydney, followed the trail of filming locations for The Matrix, and attempted to recreate shots from the film.
The Metcentre, Margaret Street and Carrington Street, Sydney CBD. This is the building where Neo worked ...while The Matrix had him.

Campbell Street and Elizabeth Street, Chinatown, Sydney. This is where Neo waits to be picked up by Trinity and her friends. They show up, he gets in the car ...and then undergoes some impromptu surgery to remove the bug he's carrying.

Martin Place and Pitt Street, Sydney CBD. The music kicks in as the traffic lights change: Morpheus swaggers down the street while Neo tries to keep up, buffeted by the pedestrians walking in the other direction.

Martin Place and Pitt Street, Sydney CBD. Neo learns to pay attention to Morpheus instead of getting distracted. It turns out that they aren't in the Matrix after all. This is a different simulation.

Colonial State Bank Centre, Philip Street and Martin Place, Sydney CBD. Morpheus is taken prisoner and held in this building. We first see it as a helicopter flies towards it; this isn't the last time we'll see that helicopter.

Corner of Hunter Street and Pitt Street, Sydney CBD. In the final shot of the movie we see Neo make a phone call wherein he issues his manifesto for the denizens of the Matix. He exits the phone booth, looks skyward ...and flies straight into the sequel.
